Siren's Lament

Siren’s Lament by Instantmiso was released on March 5, 2016. Read by thousands of people,
this webtoon is known to be eye catching. Every chapter is released on Saturday and Instantmiso
finally took it out of hiatus this month. Please note that images used and the synopsis are all from
Instantmiso.

“Content with her ordinary life, Lyra is somewhat of a wallflower. However, her comfortable lifestyle
suddenly goes astray when she accidentally plunges into the world of sirens. Entangled in a curse,
Lyra will learn that her world may be a lot bigger than she had ever imagined.”

I’ve read Instantmiso’s other series called “Where Tangents Meet” before and I absolutely love it.
She actually does a few references from “Where Tangents Meet” especially when a certain character makes an appearance in one of the chapters. In a fangirl perspective, I would’ve given this webtoon
a straight off 5 paws, however as a blogger, I must be analytical and give this a fair rating.

The first thing you notice about Siren’s Lament is the love triangle between Ian, Shon and Lyra.
The story is really interesting, however, it is also really slow in some aspects.
The main theme is heartbreak and how to deal with it, but I still think it’s kind of too much having
people turn into sirens and forget everything about their lives as a human before turning into one
(a siren I mean). There are also a few characters that come and go every one or two chapters
and it doesn’t give you enough time to get to know them or know what happens to them which
can sort of have you forget a thing or two about them if you haven’t seen them frequently.
Nonetheless, this webtoon is amazing nonetheless and I can’t wait to read the next installment
this Saturday. I give this 3 ½ paws out of 5 (It will show up as 4 paws just to round it up). 🐾🐾🐾🐾

Bride of the Water God (Manhwa and Drama Comparison)

Bride of The Water God/ Bride Of Habaek has grown popular in the K-Drama community nowadays. Especially since it's still ongoing. However, there are many things that they have changed from the original manhwa of the same name. The writers changed it so much that the drama seems more like a side-story rather than a continuation or adaptation of the manhwa. That doesn't mean that it's bad though.
 
The original manwha was released in 2006 and ended in 2014, while the English version is still ongoing. It's mostly about a girl who gets sacrificed into the lake as the new bride of the Water God (Habaek) in order for it to rain in her town after a long time of it being in a drought. The plot itself is enough to make you go on an emotional roller coaster and the number of plot twists in this manhwa are too much to count. You fall in love with each of the main characters while loathing some of the antagonists (there are other antagonists that you also might love because of their backstory). While this may seem like the atmosphere is serious, there are many comical elements as you go further into the story.

The drama, on the other hand, is about the narcissistic Habaek going to Earth in order to find a stone that is powerful enough for him to claim his throne while finding his servant and soon to be wife (both the same person).  He always had a person serving him from generation to generation, however, the person who is supposed to serve him currently doesn't believe in gods and think he was just plain insane from the start. The time used here is in present day Korea (while the manhwa is more ancient). Another thing that happens in the drama is the fact that his servants were all related while, in the manhwa, the brides are just girls sacrificed from their towns in order to get rain- or because some Oracle claims that they're destined to be his next bride. Also, the drama has more comical aspects than the manhwa since the story is a bit different. The drama was released on July 3, 2017, and is currently ongoing.
Even though both of them are really different in many aspects, they both make you laugh and cry every second along the way. You fall in love with each of the characters. I would recommend both if you're interested in a story with a good plot and characters you can, in a way, relate to.

I give the manhwa 4 paws for its amazing plot and emotional aspects.

Lookism (Manhwa Review)

Park Hyun Suk/ Daniel Park (name varies depending on where you read it) has been bullied his entire life to the point where he just wants to start life all over again. When he finally gets the chance to do so, he has to leave his hometown and his own mother behind. When he sees that life doesn't exactly change, after a while, a miracle happens to him (you're going to have to read it to find out :3 ).

I really like this manhwa because it's really realistic in the aspect of problems such as bullying and economy. It has many life lessons and moments where you can relate with the characters. One thing that I love about this manhwa in particular is the fact that you can feel comfort when reading it. It is also very cute and funny. The writer, Park Tae Jun based the characters off of real people such as his friend Park Hyung Seok (who is Park Hyun Suk/Daniel Park).


I give Lookism 5 pairs of paws out of five because of how cute and relatable it is. I definitely recommend you read it because it is definitely worth the time doing so. 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
